Also known as melamine, this highly durable surface is water- and scratch-resistant with the ability to be textured for a real wood look and feel. Because it is fused to a composite wood core with heat it’s also less likely to chip or peel, giving it long-lasting appeal.
HPL is created by fusing multiple layers of paper to a composite board under high heat and pressure, creating a highly durable surface. AeroTek panels provide the structural support for the RV in exterior and interior sidewalls, ceilings or pass-through floors. As a wood-free material, it won’t react to temperature or humidity changes, common issues with typical plywood panels that expand and contract in different conditions which may result in delamination.
AeroTek panels are made with a “frim,” vs a “scrim” found on competitive composite panels.
A scrim is a porous material similar to the fabric found on the underside of furniture. A polyester scrim allows PUR to pass through easily into the board’s core, often making the lamination process more challenging.
A frim is a hybrid between film and scrim, offering semi-porosity. It allows glue to reach the core of the board while maintaining a high percentage on the surface. This balance ensures a more efficient lamination process and a deeper bond.
