Consumers and commercial designers are counting on furniture producers and brands to lead us toward a greener future. Genesis Products’ mastery of healthy materials, laminated surfaces, and modern production techniques minimizes furniture’s carbon footprint and nurtures wellness in the places people work, live, stay and play.
If there’s anything good thing we can say about the Covid pandemic, it’s that we’re all more focused on wellness and healthy spaces. Consumers are responding by asking harder questions about the products they’re buying, demanding more transparency from manufacturers and more innovation from designers.
Lockdown and working from home has been an unexpected boon for the residential furniture industry. Being stuck at home for over a year forced us all to take a hard look at our own surroundings, followed immediately by a major boom in housing, remodeling and residential furniture sales.
As the world opens back up, commercial furniture and interior designers are poised to forever change the places we work, play and stay in response to new behavioral patterns and pandemic-inspired cleaning practices. This puts further responsibility on furniture producers to educate designers and users on which material combinations are best suited for different environments and applications.
As a manufacturer of laminated composite-wood components, Genesis Products’ job is to deliver parts that make our customers’ projects more durable and easier to manufacture without compromising on their design goals. The more our climate positive our products are, the bigger role our customers can play in addressing consumers’ heath-and-wellness concerns.
“Nearly all our furniture components are made with composite wood which, as a material, has just about the best sustainability story in the world,” says Scott Flom, Marketing Manager for the Industrial Products Division at Genesis Products. “And our surfacing options are durable enough for commercial-grade cleaning – some even offer antimicrobial properties – allowing our customers to build the healthiest possible furniture and spaces.”
Laminated Components for Durable, Healthcare-Grade Furniture
After the pandemic, according to architects at Gensler, “every space will be a healthy space.”
Genesis Laminate For Healthcare
Taking cues from healthcare design, office, retail, education and other spaces must now be able to withstand the same levels of rigorous and frequent cleaning you find in clinics and hospitals. 3DL surfaces from Genesis are already favored in healthcare and other markets because of their ease of cleaning and seamless edges.
TFL and HPL surfaces are incredibly durable and wear resistant, but require precision application of edge treatments to seal the panel and finish the component. Genesis has perfected the best combinations of materials, glues and application technology to fabricate parts that offer a lifetime of durable performance.
Value Engineering with Design-Matched Surfaces
Laminates like TFL, 3DL, HPL, printed paper foils and even edge banding are often available in matching colors, patterns and textures, so designers can choose exactly the level of durability required for specific applications.
In the past if you wanted matching horizontal and vertical surfaces you were stuck using a single material. HPL on the side of a desk? Performance overkill, and unnecessarily expensive. Paper foils on a desktop? Not nearly durable enough for even a home office. Genesis has decades of experience with these materials and knows where and how they’re best used for design, value and product quality.
Realistic textured laminates are a better (and more budget-friendly) option for wood or veneer in high-use applications. Solid color laminates are more durable than paints and lacquers, with none of the VOC issues.
Genesis’s unique expertise in making laminated components for commercial and residential furniture helps their customers build higher quality furniture, cabinets and interiors more efficiently and gives them a better health, wellness, climate story to tell.
